Working Professionals Seeking to Implement Behavioural Strategies
Overview
Designed to furnish participants with practical, actionable knowledge and expertise in behavioral decision science, this programme will guide learners in understanding the principles underlying human decision-making processes, develop and analyse behaviourally-informed strategies, and effectively convey behavioural insights to key stakeholders.
Participants will learn about the decision-making processes of individuals and groups, the cognitive biases that impact these decisions, and the economic ramifications of these choices.
Structured into three modules, the programme offers a comprehensive journey into behavioural decision science. Participants will not only gain theoretical understanding but also practical hands-on experience in applying these principles across diverse professional contexts such as marketing strategies, managerial decisions, financial markets, and policy evaluations.
Note: This is a sequential programme and is not available on a standalone basis.
Learning Objectives
- Grasp the key principles of behavioural decision science and behavioural economics
- Identify common cognitive biases that underpin decision-making and understand their influence on this process
- Learn to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios, encompassing business decision-making, policy design, and personal finance
- Understand the importance and role of data storytelling and visualisation in communicating complex data and analytical findings
- Learn various data visualisation tools and techniques to make data more accessible and understandable
- Develop skills in data storytelling, effectively presenting data-driven insights in a compelling and engaging manner
- Examine memory's role in decision-making
- Understand social norms' influence on judgments
- Learn to design and interpret A/B tests
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Executive Certificate in Applied Behavioural Science, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy in sequential order:
- Module 1: Behavioural Decision Science: Judgments, Choices, and Behavioural Economics
- Module 2: Using A/B Tests and Econometric Methods for Data Driven Decision Making
- Module 3: Communicating Data with Impact: Data Storytelling and Visualization
Note: These modules are part of a sequential programme and is not available on a standalone basis.
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 3 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Executive Certificate in Applied Behavioural Science issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
