- Recognition of prior learning: A Diploma from MOE-recognised Institutes of Higher Learning with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
- As part of the admissions process, suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview
Overview
As these technologies become more embedded in everyday business operations, the ability to understand and apply generative AI tools has become more important than ever. As organisations increasingly adopt AI technologies, skills like prompt engineering, AI-integrated app design, human-AI interaction design have become more critical than ever for optimising AI use to deliver high-impact outcomes. There is a growing skills gap in AI-related competencies. Employers are actively seeking professionals who not only understand AI conceptually but also possess the practical skills to harness AI tools—not just to automate processes, but to drive innovation and transform their organisations.
Learning Objectives
- Understand Generative AI and how it is different from other types of AI as well as its learning model
- Develop conversational prompts that enhance user engagement and maximise accuracy and quality response
- Create an action plan for integrating AI into your organisation to improve business productivity
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of Generative AI and its game-changing applications in digital marketing
- Develop strategies to mitigate the ethical risks of using Generative AI in their organisations
- Leverage Generative AI in areas such as training materials, curriculum development, assessment
- Recognise the fundamental concepts of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), including stages, applications, and implications
- Understand how Gen AI can enhance HR functions by improving productivity and streamlining workflows
- Understand how Gen AI can enhance learning and development by improving educational content and engagement
- Learn and apply prompt engineering techniques to design effective Gen AI applications for compliance and legal workflows
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to design effective AI applications for sales and customer service scenarios
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to design effective AI applications for marketing and communication scenarios
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Industry Graduate Diploma in Generative AI, Large Language Models and AI Governance, participants must complete either an Integrated Learning Project or 16 Enrichment Workshops and/ or Networking Sessions, as well as the following certificates offered by SMU Academy:

- Gen AI Apps Design and Prompt Engineering in Human Resource
- Gen AI Apps Design and Prompt Engineering in Learning and Development
- Gen AI Apps Design and Prompt Engineering in Compliance and Legal
- Gen AI Apps Design and Prompt Engineering in Sales and Customer Service
- Gen AI Apps Design and Prompt Engineering in Marketing and Communications
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module as well as an overall Industry Graduate Diploma exam. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of the following within 2 years:
- The required IGD modules,
- The Integrated Learning Project (ILP) or 16 Enrichment Workshops and/ or Networking Sessions and,
- Passing the overall IGD exam
Participants will be awarded an Industry Graduate Diploma in Generative AI, Large Language Models and AI Governance.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Employer Sponsored
Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
