Overview

Commonly regarded as an entry point to the F&B business, starting a new café or restaurant paints the idea of an exciting project. However, this entry point entails other aspects from strategies to pitfalls and business management. How do you then ensure that your business does not also become your exit point?

The module explores various F&B concepts and the purpose for running a business. Participants will learn to test the feasibility of their concepts by adapting a business mindset and gain a competitive advantage.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain an overview of food focused businesses in the food and beverage industry like cafes and restaurants
  • Learn about key issues to look out for and other considerations
  • Work out your USP (unique selling point) and figure out your “reason to exist”
  • Refine concepts, locations, marketing, target audience and other factors
  • Know the pros and cons of a food-focused business vs a drinks-focused business
  • Establish the right balance between food vs drinks income
