Overview
Changes in technology and the prolific use of social media are having an impact on how audiences see arts productions. The art forms themselves have also evolved. Inter-disciplinary arts are the new normal. Gone are the days when an artist focuses solely on one art form. Arts organisations are realising that managing the arts is not simply a task which can be done by anyone with knowledge and skills in business or management. Instead, it is an area that requires specialised knowledge and skills.
Offered jointly with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), this certificate programme provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to work in an arts organisation. Participants will gain meaningful insights on how the arts can be managed and they will examine trends and issues through engaging with industry experts and their peers.
Topic/Structure
To achieve the SMU-NAFA Advanced Certificate in Arts Management for Arts Professionals, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital SMU-NAFA Advanced Certificate in Arts Management for Arts Professionals issued by Singapore Management University.
