PREREQUISITES
There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge on any of the topics is not required.
Overview
Visual arts management will cover the management of museums, galleries, art fairs and auction houses with specialised areas including collection handling and restoration, exhibition design, and curating. Under performing arts management, participants will look into the production process, from pre-production to post-production. Specialised areas include stagecraft which will help participants to communicate effectively with stakeholders such as technical and design, risk management and production control personnel. Another unique area under the performing arts would be programming and managing rehearsals and performers.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
- Identify key visual and performing arts organisations within the arts ecosystem
- Analyse how different departments in museums, galleries, art fairs, and auction houses work together
- Discuss the code of ethics of various visual arts organisations
- Use appropriate terminology when communicating with stakeholders
- Explain in detail the whole production process, from pre-production to post- production
- Discuss how programming is done and its considerations
- Evaluate and implement risk management processes
- Apply financial processes to a production, including grant applications and crafting budgets
- Explain how rehearsals and performers are managed, including contracts and negotiations
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
