Overview
Government relations enable an organisation to communicate with relevant governmental agencies. Public affairs encompass the public relations that helps an organisation interact with the government, legislators, interest groups and the media and where relevant may include how they engage and influence on relevant public policy issues. These two functions often overlap, but government relations tend to be more organisation to government type of communication in which regulatory issues are discussed, communication directed to governmental representatives takes place, lobbying efforts directed at educating legislators are initiated and so on.
It is believed that as key business leaders and government relations/ public affairs and policy professional drive and accelerate growth for global conglomerates and multinational corporations, they need to advocate, influence and anticipate the unpredictable winds of government, the media, and countless other influential groups. The ability to advocate and influence legislative and policy leadership, engage and manage regulatory regimes, support business leaders in their transactional business support, strengthening corporate reputation and navigate the external risks and wider key stakeholders and ecosystem becomes critical for many key leaders and functional leaders seeking to forge stronger cross business and functional collaboration.

Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
