Who Should Attend

  • Team Leaders or Directors of Relationship Managers in a Private Bank

Overview

This course focuses on equipping participants with the necessary skills to guide their team's client identification, acquisition, and investment suitability strategies.

By aligning strategies with suitability assessments based on emerging trends, participants will enhance their ability to mitigate investment risks and provide effective guidance to their Relationship Managers. The programme aims to empower team leaders in making informed decisions and driving their team's success in delivering appropriate investment advice to clients. 

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 1-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Guide overall acquisition and conversion strategies to ensure suitability and mitigate investment risks
  • Align strategies with suitability assessments based on the latest emerging trends

Assessment

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.

IBF - STS Funding

Standards Training Scheme

The IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS) provides funding for training and assessment programmes accredited under the Skills Framework for Financial Services. It is applicable for both Company-Sponsored and Non Company-Sponsored individuals.

For training programmes commencing from 1 Jan 2023:

  • Individuals must be physically based in Singapore.
  • Singapore Citizens and PRs will be eligible for 50% funding of direct training cost.
  • Singapore Citizens aged 40 years old and above will be eligible for 70% co-funding of direct training cost.
  • Funding amount is capped at S$3,000 per participant per course.
  • Course fees subsidies will not apply to self-sponsored individuals who are not employed by financial institutions and Singapore FinTech Association certified FinTech firms for critical core skills (generic /soft skills) and future-enabled skill only courses.
  • Trainees are only eligible for a one-time grant of course fee subsidies for the course per calendar year, subject to their successful completion of the course.

With nearly twenty years in private banking, Kent has served U/HNW Southeast and North Asian individuals, entrepreneurs and families across roles of investment advisor, relationship manager and team leader. He combines a deep understanding of markets and clients, strong technical knowledge, and people leadership to deliver a human-centred approach to wealth management. Kent also has a strong interest and experience in advising on family governance, wealth succession and crafting an enduring legacy. His graduate research at INSEAD focused on family dynamics and the intergenerational transfer of non-financial wealth in business families. He is also a qualified family business & wealth advisor through The Family Firm Institute. As principal coach and founder of Considered Choices, an executive coaching and training practice, Kent is dedicated to helping leaders and professionals develop purpose-driven leadership and make resonant life and career choices.

This course addresses the following Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) and proficiency level: 

  • Client Investment Suitability Proficiency Level 5

Participants are encouraged to access the IBF MySkills Portfolio to track their training progress and skills acquisition against the Skills Framework for Financial Services. You can apply for IBF Certification after fulfilling the required number of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) for the selected job role.
