Overview

This 2-day hands-on course on Service Prototyping, part of the Design Thinking series, is designed to equip participants with essential tools and methods to create effective prototypes for services.

Participants will explore the importance of prototyping in the service design process, learning how to translate abstract service concepts into tangible and testable prototypes for user feedback. Through hands-on activities and a collaborative project, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to enhance their service prototyping capabilities.

The course includes case studies in service design for deeper understanding. 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the need to adopt the user-centric approach in designing service solutions to meet user's needs, wants and desires,  
  • Recognise the importance and benefits of prototyping in service design,
  • Learn the principles and techniques of service prototyping,
  • Develop skills to quickly and effectively create service prototypes,
  • Gain knowledge on how to gather and utilise feedback from prototypes to enhance services,
  • Enhance problem-solving and innovation capabilities through iterative prototyping, and  
  • Collaborate effectively in teams to design and test service prototypes.

  • Overview of Design Thinking and its application to Service Design,
  • Why Prototype a Service?
  • Introduction to Low-Fidelity Prototyping Tools and Methods,
  • Iterating and Improving Prototypes,
  • Advanced Prototyping Techniques, and
  • Prototyping for Different Service Contexts. 

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a group/ individual presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

As a serial entrepreneur, Thierry thrives on venturing off the beaten path, satisfying his thirst for adventure and human narratives. In addition to running Atelier Modus, Thierry teaches at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University. Recently, he served as the lead juror for the Singapore Good Design Mark in the Experience category.
