Minimum 5 years of working experience is required.
Overview
Module 2 builds on the essential coaching fundamentals that had been established in Module 1 to provide learners with additional tool kits and practice required to be a credible managerial coach or corporate coach.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 3-day module, participants will be able to:
- Acquire techniques to build trusted internal/corporate coaching relationships
- Determine the coaching and mentoring models, as well as strategies required to develop effective individual development plans for coaches
- Evaluate the key success factors in determining the effectiveness of the coaching and mentoring approaches

Day 1
Emotional Intelligence - What is it and how to develop it; Its importance to leadership
Coaching for Resilience - An Introduction to the Brain; Recognize triggers and manage stress
Relational Dynamics - Working with different ego states; Impact on effectiveness of coaching outcome
Coaching Case Studies - Design a development plan for coachees; Work with private and public goals
Day 2
Cognitive Behaviour Theory - Work with unconscious behavioural patterns; Take ownership of new behaviour
Coaching and Change - Understand the process to adapt to change; Model to coach people through this process
Establish trust and rapport - Set clear boundaries for coaching; Manager versus Coach
Introduction to Positive Psychology (PP) - Background and importance of PP; Bring PP into coaching
Day 3
Coaching Practice - Practice particular skills; Receive feedback on practice
Working with Strengths - Benefits of working with strengths; Coaching models to identify strengths
Working with Meaning - Understand the 2 dimensions of growth model; Raise awareness and increase responsibility about meaning

ICF Credentialing
The program is recognized as accredited training by ICF - the world’s largest organization of professionally trained coaches, based in USA. The first three modules provide the participant with the required number of training hours related to the ICF competencies. The last module allows the participant to better understand the requirements of ICF credentialing and the preparation needed for their coaching career.
The program fulfils the training hours required in the ACSTH pathway to ICF certification. However, to qualify as an ICF-certified coach, you would need to fulfil other requirements as mentioned in the ICF website: https://coachingfederation.org/
Assessment
Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.
Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at a fee of SGD100.00 (excluding prevailing GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.
Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.
Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).
In order to be awarded with Professional Certificate in Coaching, participants are required to complete all 4 modules in sequence within 2 years.
