Overview
The transition from an effective individual contributor to a new manager can be an exciting and demanding journey. Designed to fast track the managerial skills of managers, this modular programme aims to equip the participants with the essential skills to make better decisions, obtain buy-ins from stakeholders, create value for their customers and employees, deliver exceptional results as well as uncover new business opportunities for their organisations.
Presented over 5 modules, this highly interactive programme employs a variety of learning methods. Live simulation will be used to illustrate and reinforce the application of concepts, in addition to discussions, case studies, field research and assessments, to help participants gain insights into their decision-making processes and acquire effective managerial, communication and leadership skills to build trust and inspire others to work with them.

- Analytics for Management Decisions (formerly known as Management Efficacy)
- Design Thinking for Business (formerly known as Business Excellence)
- Create a World-Class Winning Team

Learning Objectives

- Transform data into insights to gain stakeholder’s support and manage their expectations.

- Elevate the team energy, create a conducive team environment for exponential thinking and establish the team rules of engagement to take their teams from good to great.

- Deliver a powerful business story with emotion and authenticity to captivate, engage and influence their audience.
Topic/Structure
Programme Structure
Participants may either attend the full programme or only selected module(s).
Leveraging on SMU’s distinctive pedagogy for interactive, discussion driven and thought provoking seminar-style teaching, we aim to provide our participants with the ability to translate the learning and insights into practice at the workplace. A variety of teaching methods such as experiential learning, role plays, case discussions, presentations, exercises and oral questioning will be employed by the programme’s faculty in the training sessions. There will also be an individual written assessment at the end of every module which serve to assess a participant’s understanding of the subject matter.
Assessment
Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.
Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at a fee of SGD100.00 (excluding prevailing GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.
Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.
Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).
