PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge on any of the topics is not required.

Overview

NVIDIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang has described the current moment as the era of “agentic and reasoning artificial intelligence (AI)”, marking a new phase in AI’s evolution. Building on recent advances in generative AI, agentic AI enables goal-driven autonomy, allowing systems to plan, take action, and work with humans to deliver real-world outcomes.

The global ecosystem is advancing rapidly, from multi-agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph and CrewAI to emerging interoperability standards including Google’s Agent2Agent (A2A) and Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP). Across finance, healthcare, logistics, and government, organisations are already deploying “digital workers” to support compliance, customer service, and data-intensive workflows, often reporting significant productivity gains.

This programme prepares professionals to navigate this evolving landscape. The programme introduces participants to what makes an AI system “agentic”, how such systems plan and act, and how they are applied in real-world contexts. Participants will learn to design, build, and govern agentic AI solutions using no-code or low-code tools, application programming interface (API) sandboxes, and real-world case studies, equipping them to lead responsible AI adoption within their organisations.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:

  • Define Agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) and differentiate it from traditional AI systems, understand what makes an AI “agentic” and how it differs from chatbots or robotic process automation, recognise the sense–think–act loop and how agents plan and execute tasks

  • Explain key concepts of autonomous AI agents, identify where autonomous systems deliver value and where human control is essential

  • Explore and illustrate practical applications and limitations of Large Language Model (LLM) based autonomous agents (e.g., Auto-GPT, LangChain)

  • Critically analyse the strengths, weaknesses, and current state of agentic AI development and implementation

  • Apply foundational agentic AI concepts to real-world business scenarios and outline a simple business case and success criteria for an agent project

  • Compare single-agent and multi-agent approaches

  • Discuss emerging trends and the potential future evolution of agentic AI

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.
