PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for this programme. Prior knowledge on any of the topics is not required.

Overview

With the world moving ahead towards Web 3.0, it attempts to rid the privacy flaws of the centralised Web 2.0. Web 3.0 represents a decentralised web allowing users full autonomy over their data and identity, taking control back from platform intermediaries owned by tech giants (Amazon, Facebook and Google) that monopolise control over our data. However, with decentralisation comes its own set of security issues that transcend data. For example, the lack of legal protection and risks of smart contract logic hacks surrounding anonymous transactions on distributed ledgers.

How has data management progressed from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0? What are some of the security and privacy risks that decentralisation has brought in? What are the regulations and legal protections that have been implemented to curb such security risks? Through this course, participants will be able to identify differences in data management between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0, Web 3.0 risks and the technologies that mitigate these risks.

  • Identify the different forms of risks that have arisen due to Web 3.0 decentralisation
  • Gain an understanding of risk management strategies and legal regulations that can be implemented to manage various risks in Web 3.0 and how to balance the risks with benefits that come with Web 3.0
  • Introduce the steps to take or signs to notice indicating when a company is ready to pivot to Web 3.0 through case studies
  • Consider the current developments and future outlooks for regulation in Web 3.0
