PREREQUISITES

  • A Diploma with at least 3 years of working experience
  • Basic knowledge in accounting and economics concepts

Overview

Find out how hedge funds generate and sustain extra normal returns and how to identify a scam from a bona-fide successful hedge fund.

Participants will be under the guidance of a veteran hedge fund insider and portfolio manager who has more than 30 years of both market and regulatory experience on how to navigate the complex world of hedge funds.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and learn how to invest in the US IPO markets, exchange traded funds and digital assets
  • Identify the 12 typical hedge fund strategies and a selection process to suit their risk tolerance
  • Learn to create and back-test your own simple hedge fund strategies
  • Learn to create your own basic quantitative fund strategy

Topic/Structure

  • Introduction to hedge funds and its strategies to generate returns
  • Theory and practical applications of stock valuations methods
  • Investment styles, financial planners and mutual funds
  • Detailed walk-through on Long Short Strategy
  • Red flags in the hedge fund world and why some companies fail

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of each module.
 

CERTIFICATION

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria. 

Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million

  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Academic Director
Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business

Michael, Academic Director at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business, oversees the MS Global Finance programme. He earned the 2017 Stanley Fuchs Award and the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence. With 30+ years in finance, he held leadership roles at Capital Position and AIG SunAmerica. He served 17 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, leading the U.S. Bond Division. Michael teaches Global Financial Markets at Peking University and previously taught at New York University, where he was a senior adviser until 2016.
