  • Basic knowledge in accounting and economics concepts

Overview

The average individual investor would have lost money or underperformed in the markets at least once. Following the herd or reacting to current news are well anticipated by professional money managers. In order to be successful, one needs to know where to look and how to anticipate changes to the economy, which are driven by macro-economic policies.

In this module, learn how different policies work in the financial market and identify investment opportunities. Participants will also learn to build better asset allocation and explore the world of currency markets and cryptocurrency.

Learning Objectives

  • Create a comprehensive country analysis
  • Learn to build asset allocation with depth
  • Identify new investment ideas for future opportunities
  • Prevent losses in commodity and leveraged exchange-traded funds
  • Discover innovative and new exchange-traded funds

Topic/Structure

  • Differences between the monetary and fiscal policy, and the factors driving the currency market
  • Cryptocurrency: Fad or replacement for fiat currency
  • Case studies on South Africa, Brazil, India and Saudi Arabia
  • Case Study on RMB Internationalisation
  • Exchange-traded funds: Innovative strategies and risk

Assessment

An assessment will be conducted at the end of each module.
 

CERTIFICATION

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment criteria, participants will be awarded a digital certificate for participating in each module. Please refer to our course policies to view the attendance and assessment criteria. 

Upon completion of all modules required for this programme within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital certificate.

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Academic Director
Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University
Michael, Academic Director at Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business, oversees the MS Global Finance programme. He earned the 2017 Stanley Fuchs Award and the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence. With 30+ years in finance, he held leadership roles at Capital Position and AIG SunAmerica. He served 17 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, leading the U.S. Bond Division. Michael teaches Global Financial Markets at Peking University and previously taught at New York University, where he was a senior adviser until 2016.
