Overview
The Certified Climate Resilient Officer (CRO) course is a globally relevant programme designed to equip professionals with the critical competencies necessary for assessing climate risk, analysing the financial implications of climate-related threats, and integrating these insights into organisational planning and reporting.
Aligned with the latest international standards and frameworks, such as ISO 14091, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, and the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), this course combines foundational knowledge, real-world case studies, and a clear understanding of the CRO's vital role within a resilient organisation or city.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the 2-day course, participants will be able to:
- Explain key concepts in climate change science and climate resilience, identifying and assessing various climate risks and their implications across corporations and cities
- Analyse the financial impacts of climate change using structured risk assessment methodologies and evaluate the importance and requirements of climate risk disclosure within sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting
- Apply major climate resilience frameworks and standards, including ISO 14091, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
- Develop strategies for adaptation and mitigation, integrating climate risk into long-term planning and operational practices to enhance resilience
- Leverage data analytics and emerging technologies to enhance climate risk assessments and resilience planning and examine case studies to understand best practices at organisational and municipal levels
- Communicate climate risks and resilience strategies to stakeholders, contributing to ethical and sustainable decision-making, and understand the Climate Resilient Officer (CRO) role and competencies
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
