PREREQUISITES
Participants will benefit from knowing blockchain basics, or have taken blockchain and digital assets courses offered by SMU Academy such as Graduate Certificate in Digital Finance Module 2: Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology.
Overview
What are DAOs and what is the context for their emergence? What purpose do they serve and how are they different from firms? More importantly, how are they relevant for financial services professionals, FinTech and crypto entrepreneurs, and regulators? To understand and decide how to engage with DAOs, this course introduces an original DAO framework to help participants decipher a DAO. Additionally, it also presents a DAO risk assessment methodology for financial services professionals. DAOs may not be ubiquitous now, but increasingly, innovative financial institutions, governments and supranationals are paying attention to them. What are the opportunities and challenges of DAOs, and how will they earn their place in a tokenised future? Adapted from the publication of the same name, these questions will be addressed in this 2-day course.
