Pre-requisites

Participants should:

  • be a Head of Department or senior business executive with more than 5 years of significant direct report managerial responsibilities, 
  • business leaders who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential in their course of work; and
  • have direct reports.

A dedicated programme for leaders to enhance their competence and leadership for personal and organisational success

The hallmark of a great leader is the ability to lead and inspire others to reach greater heights.

The development of a capable individual contributor to a successful leader of others is one of the most rewarding career stages.

The Executive Certificate in Leadership and People Management explores the important management facets such as personal effectiveness in senior roles, leading strategies development and implementation, managing change in a diverse, challenging and rapidly evolving business environment, communicating effectively and developing talents. It is a dedicated programme for leaders and high potential managers to enhance their ability to manage with competence and lead for personal and organisational success.


The Executive Certificate in Leadership and People Management comprises 6 modules:

  • Becoming a Whole Leader
  • Talent Management for Business Leaders
  • Facilitating Innovation and Leading Change
  • Role of Effective Managers - Connecting the Dots
  • Driving Performance Excellence

Learning Objectives

Leveraging on SMU’s distinctive pedagogy for interactive, discussion driven and thought provoking seminar-style teaching, and facilitators' vast experience in helping clients achieve lasting impact and measurable results in business performance, we aim to provide our participants with the ability to translate the learning and insights into practice. A variety of teaching methods such as experiential learning, role plays, case discussions, presentations, exercises, assignments and oral questioning will be employed by the faculty in the training sessions. There will also be formal assessments for every module which serve to assess a participant’s understanding of the subject matter.

Topic/Structure

Assessment

Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at fee of SGD100.00 (excluding prevailing  GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date. It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.

Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.

Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).

In order to be awarded with Executive Certificate in Leadership and People Management, participants are required to complete all 6 modules within 3 years.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)

  • Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
  • Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
  • Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman

Programme Registration

Registrants are required to submit the following supporting documents via the registration system at the point of registration:

  1. Highest qualification certificate (scanned copy); and
  2. Updated Curriculum Vitae detailing managerial experience and number of direct reports; and
  3. Complete organisational chart showing the registrant's position;
  4. Any other supporting documents e.g. company's recommendation letter

Certified Professional Business Manager (CPBM)
