Overview
The maritime industry is undergoing profound change. Geopolitical tensions, shifting trade routes, sustainability imperatives, and rapid digitalisation are redefining how maritime organisations operate - and reshaping the skills required of today’s workforce. With the Maritime Industry Transformation Map (MITM) signalling a move towards higher‑value, technology‑enabled and sustainability‑driven roles, maritime professionals must now think beyond traditional operational silos.
The Industry Graduate Diploma in Maritime is designed for this new era. Structured around two stackable Advanced Certificates - Maritime Business and Management (MBM) and Maritime Operations and Risk Management (MORM) - the programme equips professionals for shore‑based roles that demand strategic thinking, commercial acumen, operational resilience, and leadership confidence.
Participants gain a holistic understanding of the maritime ecosystem, spanning business strategy, digital and data competency, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and decarbonisation, risk and crisis management, maritime law, and global supply‑chain operations. Set against an industry shaped by uncertainty and transformation, the programme builds the agility, clarity, and capability needed to navigate complexity, lead change, and create impact in a fast‑evolving global maritime landscape.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:
- Interpret and apply integrated maritime industry knowledge: Analyse how global trade, geopolitics, regulation, and sustainability pressures shape modern maritime operations, supply chains, and shore-based decision-making
- Make informed commercial and financial decisions in maritime contexts: Apply commercial, contractual, and financial principles to support operational efficiency, cost control, risk mitigation, and long term asset performance
- Leverage digital technologies and data for operational excellence: Evaluate and apply digital and data-driven tools to enhance fleet performance, supply chain visibility, predictive maintenance, and sustainability outcomes
- Manage operational risk, compliance, and crisis situations effectively: Identify and respond to operational, regulatory, security, and geopolitical risks through compliance management, crisis response strategies, and business continuity planning
- Lead resilient, sustainable, and future-ready maritime operations: Apply leadership, stakeholder management, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to drive organisational resilience, decarbonisation efforts, and continuous improvement across maritime operations
