Overview
This professional certificate programme aims to arm participants with the knowledge and systems they can use to transform their firm/ department business model from top to bottom. Focusing on such diverse areas as Technology, Business Development, HR, Operations and Legal Design, it is designed to be an introductory course giving insight and structure to processes in order to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Professional Certificate in Legal Practice of the Future, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
- Module 1: Fundamentals in Legal Technology
- Module 2: The Business of Law and Digitalising and Streamlining Legal Operations
- Module 3: Business Development and Networking For a Young Professional
- Module 4: Legal Design and Design Thinking
- Module 5: HR in Law - Attracting and Engaging Legal Talent and Being a Leader in a Professional Services Firm
- Module 6: Rapport Building and Customer Profiling
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Professional Certificate in Legal Practice of the Future issued by Singapore Management University.
CPD POINTS
Participants will be able to earn 6 CPD Points awarded by Singapore Institute of Legal Education for each module.
Participants who wish to obtain CPD Points are reminded that they must comply strictly with the Attendance Policy set out in the CPD Guidelines. For this activity, this includes signing in on arrival and signing out at the conclusion of the activity in the manner required by the organiser, and not being absent from the entire activity for more than 15 minutes. Participants who do not comply with the Attendance Policy will not be able to obtain CPD Points for attending the activity. Please refer to www.sileCPDcentre.sg for more information.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
