Overview

Where Artificial Intelligence (AI), climate and finance converge.

AI is transforming businesses. Climate change is transforming investment decisions. Professionals who understand both will increasingly sit at the centre of enterprise transformation.

This programme equips professionals to apply AI, digitalisation, climate data and financial thinking to strategic business challenges. Participants learn how organisations can use AI for climate adaptation, navigate carbon credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), interpret climate data, develop investable climate business models and use AI-assisted decision-making to rethink Return on Investment (ROI) and capital allocation.

Why these skills matter now

AI, energy and sustainability: Energy Management was among the fastest-growing green skills identified by LinkedIn, with AI-driven energy demand contributing to its growing importance.

Green skills beyond “green jobs”: More than half of green hires were in roles not traditionally classified as green, showing that sustainability capability is spreading into finance, operations, technology, procurement and strategy.

Asia’s AI infrastructure cycle: APAC had 3.7 GW of data-centre capacity under construction and a further 15.7 GW planned at the end of 2025, driven partly by AI and hyperscale demand.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 12-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalisation concepts to climate adaptation and commercially relevant enterprise use cases
  • Understand carbon credits, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Renewable Energy 100% (RE100), Article 6 and clean-energy procurement strategies
  • Use climate data and scenario thinking to translate physical climate risks into financial and operational risks
  • Design investable climate-adaptation business models and financing propositions
  • Apply AI-assisted forecasting and scenario analysis to capital allocation
  • Incorporate resilience, avoided losses and sustainability outcomes into Return on investment (ROI) and investment decisions

Topic/Structure

To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Artificial Intelligence Enabled Climate Transformation , participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:

  • Digital Adoption & Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Sustainability Reporting and Climate Adaptation
  • Carbon Credit & Renewable Energy Credit (REC) Markets
  • Enabling Climate Adaptation and Resilience with Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Climate Risk Assessment: Intepreting Data, Scenario Thinking and Decision Tools
  • Designing Climate Adaptation Startup Models for Investment Readiness
  • Sustainable Digital Transformation: Redefining Returns of Investment (ROI) with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Assessment

As part of the requirement for Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 2 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Artificial Intelligence Enabled Climate Transformation  issued by SMU Academy.
