Overview
Comprising the Advanced Certificate in Governance, Risk Management and Data Compliance and Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems, this Industry Graduate Diploma programme seeks to ensure that your policies, rules, and definitions apply to all your data across your entire organisation. You can deliver trusted data to a broad range of individuals in a variety of different roles, from business leaders to data managers and developers. And you can ensure that data is appropriately governed, transformed, and reliably delivered across all applications and analytics deployments in the organisation.
Participants will be awarded the Industry Graduate Diploma in Data Governance and Management upon successful completion of both Advanced Certificate programmes.
Learning Objectives
The Industry Graduate Diploma in Data Governance and Management aims to provide learners with an understanding of key issues and challenges in the field, including perception and reputation management, stakeholder communication, and crisis management.
Through this programme, learners will:
- Learn the importance of performance management based on OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
- Evaluate compliance requirements and ethical principles based on AI governance frameworks.
- Understand third-party vendor selection, due diligence processes, and data protection policies to be included in contracts.
- Gain an understanding of the elements of governance, risk, and compliance.
- Understand what a Business Continuity Management System is, and the requirements for ISO 22301.
- Understand data governance in today’s digital and regulatory environment.
- Learn how to implement data protection risk frameworks according to ISO 31000 standards.
- Learn how to implement comprehensive frameworks that guide data protection concepts, principles, and requirements in mobile applications and the broader digital landscape.
- Understand the importance of records management, and apply the principles of managing records and metadata.
- Understand the requirements of the new ISO 37301 and how to establish a compliance function.
- Establish and implement a jurisdiction-neutral Privacy Information Management System using ISO 27701.

Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems
- Module 1: Digital Data Governance Frameworks and Standards
- Module 2: Data Protection Risks and Audit Management
- Module 3: Mobile Applications - Privacy by Design and Design Thinking
- Module 4: Concepts and Principles of Records Management in Today’s Digital Environment
- Module 5: Implementing a Compliance Management System ISO37301
- Module 6: Implementing the Privacy Information Management Standard ISO27701
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module as well as an overall Industry Graduate Diploma exam. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of all the required modules within 2 years and passing the overall IGD exam, participants will be awarded an Industry Graduate Diploma in Data Governance and Management.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
