Overview
This programme is specially designed for data protection officers, compliance managers or professionals with data protection responsibilities. Participants will be able to grasp the importance of data governance, privacy and data protection, along with practical skills to help analyse, support and ultimately manage the ever-growing volume of data and information within their organisations.
Learning Objectives
- Develop a playbook for cyber and data incident management
- Develop and maximise strategic stakeholder management roadmap based on optimising performance that is aligned to the organisation's vision using OCEG's GRC Capability Model
- Implement changes according to ethical-legal requirements and draft professional code of conduct and standards codes of practice
- Develop strategic vendor management plans and set KPIs for vendors
- Develop a GRC (Governance, Risk Management and Compliance) strategic plan using a case study
- Learn how to implement the phases and elements of the ISO22301
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Governance, Risk Management and Data Compliance, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
- Module 1: Crisis Communications and Data Breach Response for DPOs
- Module 2: Managing Performance, Stakeholders, Team Strengths for Data Governance
- Module 3: Data Ethics and AI Governance Frameworks
- Module 4: Policy and Third Party Management of Data
- Module 5: A Hands-on Approach to Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Module 6: Business Continuity Management for Managers
This module is part of the Advanced Diploma in Data Governance and Management.
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of every module. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Governance, Risk Management and Data Compliance issued by Singapore Management University.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
