PREREQUISITES
- Basic qualification that is equivalent to Certificate in Exercise Science programme.
Overview
This course trains participants to design goal-specific training programmes for their clients based on different profiles and needs. Participants will also be equipped with tools addressing physical development and mindset that hinder clients’ growth and guide them towards a lifestyle that brings out the best in them.
Learning Objectives
- Design programmes for weight management and other lifestyle-related diseases
- Design programmes that improve sports performance and sustain an active lifestyle
- Be able to implement injury prevention and management strategies
- Learn the biochemical and physiological principles behind lifestyle changes
- Apply principles to training programmes for different client needs
- Be able to coach effectively through various methodology and styles
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Professional Certificate in Fitness Training, participants need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
Advanced Programme Design for Weight Management
Advanced Fitness Training for Sporting Activity
Advanced Programme Design for Injury Prevention and Management
Advanced Lifestyle Habit Development
Fitness Training for Special Populations (Seniors, Children, Pregnancy, Chronic Illness/ Joint Pain)
Fitness and Wellness Coaching Methodology

- Practical demonstration
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of all 6 modules within a maximum duration of 3 years, participants will be awarded a digital Professional Certificate in Fitness Training.
NROC members can earn up to 10 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) hours after completing all 6 modules of Professional Certificate in Fitness Training Programme.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
