Overview
The key lies in responding quickly, and in a transparent way which shows your customers, and prospective customers, that you truly care about them, and are willing to go the extra mile to prove you are the brand they think you are.
In this module, participants will explore how to diffuse and manage online crises from a communications perspective with a view of mitigating the harm occasioned by such crises.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:
Understand crisis communications and the landscape of online crisis
- Understand social media crisis: instances of social media crisis and understanding key learnings
- Know how to use social media positively during an online crisis
- Develop a crisis communication plan: categorisation of crises and escalation and activation protocol
- Gain an understanding of key messages and strategies when interacting with various stakeholders and platforms (media and online)
Assessment
As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.
Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by Singapore Management University.

- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
