Overview
Singapore is widely acknowledged as a leading hub for wealth and asset management, providing investors with direct access to a diverse range of regional and global investment opportunities. Its strong and transparent legal framework, alongside economic and political stability, makes Singapore an ideal location for wealth and asset managers seeking to capitalise on asset gathering opportunities within the region.
During the course, participants will be exposed to the front office and middle and back-office operations with practical application involving regimes specific to funds and fund managers, alongside regulatory compliance, corporate governance, financial reporting, audit framework to uphold financial oversight and regulatory adherence. By the end of the programme, participants will be equipped with the skills necessary to remain competitive in the funds industry.
Learning Objectives
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Singapore's regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and audit frameworks for fund management
- Apply complex aspects of fund administration, including fund accounting, financial costing, financial transactions including NAV calculation, financial modelling and financial reporting
- Analyse regulatory risk assessment principles, taxation law and risk compliance and governance practices
Topic/Structure
To achieve the Advanced Certificate in Fund Establishment, participants will need to complete the following modules offered by SMU Academy:
Module 1: Introduction to Licensing and Registration in Singapore
Module 2: Essentials of Fund Administration
Module 3: Tax Regimes and Audit Framework
Module 4: Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Framework and Custody Arrangement
Module 5: Fund Set up Options
Module 6: Fraud and Directors' Liabilities
Assessment
Participants are required to complete an assignment-based project.
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of all 6 modules, participants will be awarded a digital Advanced Certificate in Fund Establishment.

SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.
This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

Employer Sponsored
Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS)
- Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
- Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million
- Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
- Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Trainees must not be a full-time national serviceman
- Trainees are eligible for ETSS funding only if their company's SME status is approved prior to the course commencement date. To verify your SME's status, please click here.
